Class Structure

TODSWIM

Learning to swim is such an important life skill, and the earlier you expose your child to swimming the more confident and natural they will feel in and around water, giving them a solid foundation and teaching them the correct skills they need to become water confident.

Our classes are based upon various baby & toddler swimming techniques with the emphasis on teaching pool safety being of utmost importance. We believe children learn through each other and most of all in a happy and relaxed environment, so we design our lessons around fun activities including toys, songs and games. Parent or guardian is in the water with the child and the instructor facilitates the class directing the parent or guardian.

The benefits are:

  • Enables parents to learn how to handle their child confidently in the water
  • Creates water awareness and water orientation
  • Bonding with parent/child care giver
  • Early introduction to water may prevent aquaphobia which can develop as a child grows older
  • Becoming acquainted with submersion
  • Water adaptation, child learns to enjoy water through fun activities while performing drills in preparation for water confidence skills and stroke technique at a later stage
  • R145 per lesson

  • 8 months – 24 months

  • Class quota: Up to 5

  • 30 minutes

  • Parent or Guardian is in the water with the child

Once swimmers have achieved a competent level of stroke techniques for all 4 stroke disciplines they are invited to attend non-competitive Advanced Squad training.

This is conducted in a 25 metre pool, the sessions are 30 minutes for beginners and 45 minutes for advanced. The emphasis is still on stroke quality as well as building on strength, speed, endurance and holding their stroke over distance. It is also preparation for school level galas and a great springboard toward club level swimming.

What Parents Say

“A fantastic swimming school, Bev and Lianne are wonderful with my children and I will continue to recommend them to friends”

JOANNE

“Lianne and Bev at PSA are just amazing. They take such special care with and pay individual attention to each child. My children love going to swimming lessons and their swimming skills have developed tremendously, despite us not having a pool of our own. I am delighted with PSA and recommend them without reserve.”

CATHERINE

Bev and Lianne offer 20 minute one on one lessons or max 2 per class. Our children have learnt to swim well so quickly and are relaxed in the pool. I think Bev and Lianne have given them the best chance at swimming success!

MARIE

Bev and Lianne really have the best recipe. They are very precise in their goals and expectations. The environment is orderly and controlled and most importantly safe. There is also an emphasis on correct styles and strokes which is so important. My children love going there and love the progress they make.

HEATHER
Bev is absolutely brilliant! She taught both my daughter and son to swim who are now 14 and 12. I wish I could have brought her to Durban with me to teach my now 3 year old to swim.
